An Indoor or Outdoor Wedding?

Organising your wedding day does not come without making a few very big decisions. One of the first decisions to make is typically where you will hold your wedding.

When it comes to deciding whether or not the ceremony and/or reception will be indoors or outdoors, opinions are typically very split. In our latest Petals Polly Flowers blog post, we delve right into the advantages and disadvantages of indoor and outdoor weddings to help you make that all-important decision.

Indoor Wedding Advantages

When you’re inside and away from unpredictable elements, such as the weather and possible noise from external sources, you give yourself full control over the comfort and security of your guests. Things such as the temperature and lighting can also be tuned to your specification, helping you create just the right atmosphere for your special day.

Indoor Wedding Disadvantages

On the other hand, if you have an indoor wedding, you’re likely to be bound by a set of rules, including limitations on how long the ceremony can go until, noise and even decor restrictions.

In addition to this, you may find that indoor weddings often come with very high demand, particularly during the cooler months, meaning you may be rushed into making a decision to secure a venue, without having had the opportunity to explore other options.

Outdoor Wedding Advantages

If you’re a lover of the great outdoors, being immersed in the beauty of nature can often bring a sense of serenity to your big day. Natural sounds such as bird song can add a magical charm to an outdoor ceremony and you won’t typically be bound by any decor restrictions, giving you free reign to create an environment perfectly suited to the unique tastes of you and your partner.

Outdoor Wedding Disadvantages

There are a variety of advantages and disadvantages to both indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies, but the main disadvantage of outdoor arrangements is the unpredictable nature of the weather. Of course, if you plan to marry in a location where you can almost guarantee the weather, another possible issue of an outdoor wedding to consider would be the uncertainty of external noises affecting parts of the wedding and overshadowing the atmosphere.
